Data Spotlight #2

As dedicated data curators, we’re excited to showcase curated data collections that will hopefully ignite your research interests. Today we present you:

Special data collection on Ukraine curated by GESIS
Since February 2022, Russia has been engaged in an aggressive war against Ukraine. The social sciences have extensively studied the political, military, and social reactions to the conflict, as well as the humanitarian tragedies suffered by the people. To gain a better understanding of the causes and consequences of this conflict, GESIS has curated a special data collection that includes surveys on public opinion about the Ukrainian war among the European public, as well as surveys of Ukrainians on specific topics.
The data collection comprises cross-sectional and trend surveys that cover populations in Germany and Europe. In addition to security policy opinions, a further focus is on attitudes towards refugees from Ukraine across Germany and Europe. In particular, the ‘Trendfragen Ukraine’ trend surveys conducted by the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government offer valuable and extensive insights into Germans’ attitudes towards the Ukrainian war and individuals who have migrated from Ukraine to Germany in multiple waves. The collection also includes comparative studies, such as the European Values Study (EVS) and special editions of the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), that explore pre-war attitudes in Ukraine.
